Fight For A Sandwich In New Rochelle Lands Four In Jail

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – A weekend “food fight” in New Rochelle left one man in the hospital with multiple stab wounds and four others in police custody after a brawl broke out, reportedly over a sandwich.

Police confirmed that over the weekend, four suspects, including one that is facing a felony robbery charge, were arrested and charged with assault early on Saturday morning after police responded to a reported stabbing on North Avenue.

New Rochelle resident Marlon Gardner, 16 is facing felony assault and robbery charges after stabbing his victim multiple times shortly after 3 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Gardner, who was out on bail pending his sentencing in a separate New Rochelle robbery, was held at the Westchester County jail without bail.

New Rochelle residents Jahari Ferrell, 19, Christopher Cherry, 24, and Mount Vernon native Davonte Murray, 21 were also charged with misdemeanor assault counts for their role in beating  the victim, who was taken to Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
