Last week, an employee at a Scarsdale temple - whose identity has not been released - reported to police that she had received five voice messages on the temple’s main phone line from a person whose name was not released by police.

According to police the messages “rambled about the Italian mob and people who are not Jewish, but are using the Jewish faith to benefit in life.” Police said that the caller stated she was from Scarsdale “because it was in a nice area and there are dangers famous Jews face from organized crime, especially wealthy ones.”

Police noted that the caller went on to say that she was homeless and lived in the street on 53rd and 5th in midtown New York.

“She stated on the message that the temple should follow her on Twitter,” police said.

The temple has not received any calls since Dec. 18, but the woman was nervous about the incident and wanted to document it. The calls are being investigated.
