The department gave a “final farewell” to Det. Robin Martin this week after he passed away on Dec. 21 following a lengthy battle with an undisclosed illness.

A Port Chester native, Martin graduated from the Police Training Academy in 1985 and began his career in law enforcement as an officer in Mount Vernon. He served for one year with the Port Chester Police Department before becoming a Westchester County Police Officer. He was named a detective in 1998.

Martin was married to his wife Sonya in 1986 and they later gave birth to his son, Torrian. He also leaves behind two adopted sons.

“Robin will best be remembered by many for his spirit, friendship, support and, without a doubt, some funny stories,” the Westchester County Police Department posted on Facebook. “We appreciate the support and respect shown to us and to Robin's family by the law enforcement community. We extend our appreciation for Robin's service and express our deepest condolences to Robin's family, especially his son Torrian.”
