PELHAM, N.Y. -- Ralph A. Sperandio of Pelham, died on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at Montefiore Hospital in New Rochelle. He was 89.
He was born on March 17, 1925 to Antonio and Rose (Mosca) Sperandio of Mount Vernon.
Ralph was a graduate of Edison Vocational High School in Mount Vernon and upon graduation served in the U.S. Navy in WWII as a "fighting Seabee" in the Pacific.
Ralph worked as a letter carrier in the Mount Vernon Post Office. He owned Ralph's TV repair service and also was a jack of all trades who could fix almost anything. He enjoyed bowling, golf and fishing. His nickname was "The Hawk" and he had his pilot's license.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mae (Leone) Sperandio; daughters Cynthia Davanzo and Patricia Sperandio and son Ralph Sperandio and their spouses Gary and Darlene.
He also is survived by his two grandchildren Matthew Davanzo and Jeannine Davanzo Thomas and their spouses, Kathryn and Craig. Additionally, he is survived by three great-grandsons, Jonathan, Matthew, and William Davanzo. Surviving brothers include Vincenzo and Richard Sperandio. He also is survived by many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lawrence and Daniel Sperandio, and his sisters, Constance Petrone, Paula Rossi, and Mary Luciano.
A private service was held for the immediate family.
