Edward J. Rayner, 68, Of Pelham, Retired Con Edison Employee

PELHAM, N.Y. - Edward J. Rayner, a Pelham resident, died Aug. 18. He was 68.

Rayner was born Jan. 5, 1945, in New Rochelle, to Fred and Nancy Rayner. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1965 to 1967 and was a combat Marine in Vietnam. He worked for Con Edison for 48 years and retired in 2011. He was also a volunteer fireman at the Pelham Firehouse for 50 years and retired as assistant chief. He was a volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club, Boy Scouts of America and the New Rochelle Youth Tackle League.

Rayner is survived by his sisters, Nancy Shaw of Jefferson Valley, Louise and Ronald Uzzo of Pelham, twin sister, Mary Babb of New Rochelle; brother, Raymond Rayner (Patricia) of Liverpool; numerous nieces, nephews; and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; and brothers, Fredrick and Benjamin Rayner.

Calling hours are Wednesday, Aug. 21 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Pelham Funeral Home. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22 at St. Catherine's Church. Interment will follow at Beechwood Cemetery, New Rochelle.
