Assunta Marrella, 84, Of Pelham, Taught Fashion Arts And Dressmaking

PELHAM, N.Y. - Assunta Marrella of Pelham died Oct. 9. She was 84.

Marrella was born in the town of Sacco in southern Italy and came to the United States at the age of seven. For 28 years she taught fashion arts, dressmaking, and fashion merchandising at New York City vocational high schools. Upon retirement, she was a member of the Manor Club and served as co-president of the Pelham Women’s Club. She lived in Pelham Manor for 53 years and belonged to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

Marrella is survived by her husband, Anthony; daughter, Ellen (John); son, John (Amey) Marrella; a grandson; and sister, Josephine Salamone and family.

Calling hours are Oct. 17 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel Inc., 16 Shea Place, New Rochelle, New York 10805. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Oct. 18 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 575 Fowler Ave., Pelham Manor, followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx.
