Winter Weather Advisory Is Extended For Pelham

UPDATE, 10 p.m.:

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Winter Weather Advisory in effect for Northern Westchester starting at 6 p.m. Sunday has been extended until noon Monday, the National Weather Service said. The initial advisory was in effect until 8 a.m. on Monday, before being extended to 10 a.m.

UPDATE, 6 p.m.:

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect for all of Westchester County and the entire tristate area from Sunday at 6 p.m. through Monday at 10 a.m.

Snow is expected before midnight Sunday, with more snow, sleet and freezing rain overnight throughout the region, the weather service said.

Total nighttime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches is possible with a coating of a tenth of an inch of ice, according to the National Weather Service. Up to 3 inches of snow could fall in areas further north and in the hills. The overnight low will be about 28 degrees.

Rain or freezing rain will fall Monday morning, becoming all rain after noon.

Visibility on roads could be a half-mile or less, especially with moderate or heavy snow. Icy conditions will cause hazardous travel into Monday morning, especially on untreated roads. Drivers should exercise caution.


WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- A mix of snow and sleet is expected to overspread Westchester County as night fall arrives on Sunday.

Periods of snow are likely between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m., according to the National Weather Service, followed by snow and sleet between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. The precipitation is expected to change to rain in central and southern Westchester after 1 a.m., but the changeover will occur later in Northern Westchester, where a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect.

There will be periods of rain on Monday, mainly occurring before 2 p.m., with a high of 45 degrees.

There is a 30 percent chance of snow on Tuesday, with a high of 36.

Wednesday is expected to be sunny with temperatures in the low 30s.
