Wind Gusts Lead To Early Dismissal At Mamaroneck Avenue School

MAMARONECK, N.Y. - The Mamaroneck Avenue  School was among the many in the lower Hudson Valley affected by strong gusts of wind on Monday, prompting an early dismissal.

Administrators were forced to conduct an early dismissal at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon, as high winds caused power outages in Mamaroneck that affected hundreds of customers.

In Mamaroneck, Con Edison reported 12 power outages on Monday afternoon, which were affecting more than 400 customers. In Westchester County, a total of 3,232 of 348,198 Con Edison customers were without power, with an estimated time of restoration of 10 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service - which issued a high wind warning that will extend through 6 p.m. on Monday - winds are expected to reach 35 mph, including gusts up to 60 mph in Westchester, with the strongest winds coming through in the late afternoon.
