Westchester's Audra McDonald, Jeffrey Tambor Get Emmy Nods

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Westchester residents -- and noted actors -- Audra McDonald of Croton-on-Hudson and Jeffery Tambor of Cross River and both got Emmy nods at a news conference in Los Angeles this morning.

McDonald, who has been appearing on Broadway in "Shuffle Along, Or, The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed," was nominated for her role for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Limited Series Or Movie as Billie Holiday as part of HBO's "Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill."

She is up against Felicity Huffman from ABC's "American Crime," Lili Taylor, also from "American Crime," Kerry Washington from HBO's "Anita Hill," Kirsten Dunst from "Fargo" on FX and Sarah Paulson in FX's "The People v. O.J. Simpson."

Tambor, who won an Emmy last year for his role in Amazon's "Transparent," was nominated again in the category of Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. Tambor plays Maura Pfefferman, a transgender woman who comes out to her family late in life.

Other nominees in his category include black-ish star Anthony Anderson from ABC, Will Forte from FOX's "The Last Man On Earth," Aziz Ansari from Netflix' "Master Of None," William H. Macy from Showtime's "Shameless," and Thomas Middleditch, also from "Shameless."

The awards, including the star-studded Red Carpet pre-show, will telecast from The Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, Sunday, September 18 at 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The show is hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
