Two Men Allegedly Steal Used Oil from Restaurant

PELHAM MANOR, N.Y. – Two men in a white van allegedly stole used cooking oil from the Five Guys Burgers and Fries on Pelham Parkway early Tuesday morning.

The manager of the restaurant at 808 Pelham Parkway told Pelham Manor police that the oil, which the restaurant sells for recycling, was stolen at approximately 1:20 a.m. Tuesday.

Video surveillance showed two heavy set African-American men driving a white panel van with pumping mechanics in the back, according to the police report. The men pumped the oil from the drums that were due to be picked up later in the morning.

The oil is picked up every Tuesday and Friday morning, according to the report.

Police could not glean any more information on the men or the van from the video. The license plate of the van was covered.

Police believe that the suspects are known to the department and are associated with other thefts in the area similar to Tuesday's.

The manager filled out an owner's deposition and gave it to the detective division.

Another oil theft occurred at the Fairway market on Pelham Parkway in July.
