PELHAM, N.Y. A 16-year-old girl destroyed the passenger side-view mirror of a taxi cab on Monday after she refused to pay her fare, according to police.
The driver of the Reliable Taxi car was taking the girl from Mayflower Avenue in New Rochelle back to her home. The two began arguing when they reached the corner of Lincoln and Third avenues at approximately 4 p.m.
The girl got out of the car and broke the mirror at that point, according to the police report. She ran westbound on Lincoln Avenue and the driver followed her until he eventually stopped her on the Lincoln Avenue Bridge. Police arrived on the scene and interviewed both people. The driver said he did not want to press charges and the two agreed to $150 in restitution.
The girl's father came shortly thereafter and paid the driver in cash. Police sent the parties on their way and took no further action.
