Sue's Corner Awaits Holiday Sales Boost

PELHAM, N.Y. - With the holidays less than three weeks away, one local shop is still waiting for the traditional bump in sales.

“We’re definitely last minute,” said Sue Sepulveda, the owner of Sue’s Corner. “People are like, “Oh, I didn’t get it online, so I better get out there.'”

The store, which is located on Fifth Avenue, did benefit from Small Business Saturday the weekend after Thanksgiving.

“We were very happy with the Small Business Saturday that American Express promoted,” said Sepulveda. “That was good for us. It was nice. It was good because it was better than a usual Saturday.”

The 40-year-old shop is filled wall-to-wall with a selection of gifts, from personalized New York Yankees chairs with a child’s name on to ornaments.

“I came here for an ornament for my niece’s little boy, which is my great nephew,” said Camile Barone, who has completed most of her Christmas shopping. “I bought my husband a knife for hunting and I bought my nephew a little case for his brush and a comb, like a travel bag.”

Sepulveda said her most popular gifts are the personalized ones. Jewelry and candles are also very highly sought after.

“We’ve got anything you want,” said Sepulveda. “Come and do your shopping here.”

Sue’s Corner will gift wrap and ship gifts as well. It is open from Tuesday through Saturday.
