Special Meeting Called After Third Pelham Robbery

PELHAM, N.Y. – A third person walking home from the Pelham Metro-North train station was robbed at gunpoint at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday by a man who matched the assailant's description in two January robberies , the Pelham police said. The robbery prompted a special community meeting at 3 p.m. Saturday at Village Hall.

Mayor Ed Hotchkiss, the Board of Trustees and members of the Pelham Police Department will discuss the latest incident and how the investigation of the robberies is proceeding, according to an e-mail alert from Hotchkiss.

Hotchkiss reminded residents to “maintain their diligence and continue to take precautions when walking during the night-time hours.”

One of the suggestions offered by the mayor was to walk in “groups or pairs to and from the train station.”

He also said the police have added extra patrols and are continuing to work with the MTA Police and other local police departments to catch the robber, because similar robberies have occurred in Harrison and Mamaroneck. Police think the robberies are connected.
