Snow, Sleet Possible Overnight In Pelham

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- After enduring a dreary, rainy and gray Saturday, Westchester County residents may have to cope with snow and sleet overnight, the National Weather Service said.

The rain will continue until about 1 a.m., with a chance of snow and sleet between 1 and 4 a.m. in the northern part of Westchester County. The changeover to snow and sleet could happen later in the southern part of Westchester. The areas closest to Long Island Sound may not see any slow or sleet.

The overnight low will be about 25 degrees, with wind chill values between 15 and 20 degrees. Light north winds will increase to 6 to 15 mph with gust as high as 29 mph.

The good news: Little or no snow and sleet accumulation is expected.

It will be sunny but chilly on Sunday, with a high temperature near freezing across the region. But strong winds of 16 to 18 mph, gusting to 39 mph, will make it feel colder, with wind chill values of 10 and 20 degrees.

Residents may want to grab an extra blanket on Sunday night, with temperatures dropping to about 11 degrees and wind chills near zero.

The forecast worsens for the start of the workweek. The National Weather Service warns that a slow-moving coastal storm will affect Westchester County from late Monday through Wednesday night.

The storm's timing and intensity is uncertain. But freezing drizzle late Monday could either turn to plain rain or to a mix of snow and freezing rain. Rainfall could be heavy, with flash flooding possible on Tuesday. Showers are likely to continue on Wednesday.
