WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Authorities believe that human remains found in Mexico may be those of missing Pelham man Harry Devert, according to multiple reports.

Devert family spokesman Jackie Burrell confirmed to Daily Voice that Devert's mother, Ann, a New Rochelle resident, is traveling to Mexico to possibly identify her son's remains.

Devert, 32, went missing on Jan. 25 while traveling in Mexico by motorcycle. Mexican authorities have found remains in two plastic bags near a motorcycle with an identification number matching that of Devert, according to LoHud.com.

Devert was traveling through Mexico on his way to Brazil, with plans to make it in time for the start of the World Cup. When family and friends lost contact with him after Jan. 25, U.S. and Mexican authorities began a search for him. Months after his disappearance, his family and friends still held on to hope that he could be alive.

I read a lot of novels and it took me years before I went to New Orleans because of one. This was a long time ago but being the "murder" capital in the US really got me. (Hotel Lyon - http://www/hotellyonouest.com)

people can get killed anywhere, wonder how many Mexicans have been murdered in the U.S.

It's time for Obama to uses his presidential power and clean up the border. Stop the influx of Mexicans coming across the border, and if they do and try to stay in this country illegally they should be deported. This is not the first time an american has been murdered in Mexico and if our government doesn't hold Mexico accountable it will not be the last. Prayers go out to the Devert family.

My heart goes out to the Devert family. Also to Mexico - a wondrous country chock-full of wonderful people - both tainted by the work of drug cartels and industry, with a great part of the problem lying right here at our feet, where we might be best off concentrating our resources when it comes to "wars on drugs", and all that follows therefrom. Such a shame Harry Devert seemingly became another innocent victim in this.

So you want to travel to Mexico ?

Where is the COURAGE of our Leaders to call the Mexican Government to answer for this and other lawlessness that arrives via that nation.

How horrible but traveling can be dangerous. I will not be going to Mexico but someone did use my credit card down there for me. What an ordeal for the family! I guess taking a direct flight would have been a better way to go to the World Cup but I don't think I will ever go to Brazil either. I travel alone and many places are just too dangerous. I read a lot of novels and it took me years before I went to New Orleans because of one. This was a long time ago but being the "murder" capital in the US really got me. I read the US gov advice on traveling to places and delayed a return trip to Paris because of riots when I first went there for one day in 2004. I returned to Paris in 2013 and I found the city unsafe for a number of reasons. I did not go out at night and left all my most valuable things in the hotel safe. I was constantly being approached by people trying to rob me. Be safe when you travel. Don't assume that anywhere is safe. It is when you let your guard down, that you can be victimized.

I hope this is not the case. It is unfathomable we have so many people coming here from Mexico and we take such good care of them and yet our citizens are imprisoned or killed there. Why is not there serious action by our government? This is a disgraceful situation which needs to be stopped and corrected right now by our government.
