Rain, Not Snow, Expected Through the Night

PELHAM, N.Y. - If you happened to buy a new umbrella recently, Wednesday was the perfect day to put it to use in Pelham.

The rain, which started early in the morning, is not expected to let up until Thursday. Heavy rainfall is expected Wednesday night and the temperature should drop to 38 degrees.

Sarah Weeks said she is ready to leave it all behind and go on vacation because of the possible snowfall in Wednesday night's forecast.

“I’m looking forward to January when I go away to California,” said Weeks, who moved to Pelham 53 years ago from California and enjoys the warm weather there as opposed to the strong winters in Pelham.

“We avoided it last year, so we want to avoid it this year,” she said of the snow,

According to the National Weather Service, you can put away the umbrellas, but bundle up because it will be cold at night this week. It will be partly cloudy Thursday and Friday, but with low nightly temperatures of 32 degrees both nights. Saturday and Sunday should both be clear and sunny, but with a brisk wintry temperature of 29 degrees on both nights.

For those of us not going to California in January, start buying your shovels and snow-blowers now before this forecast is filled with snow.
