"A 16-year old male in custody of juvenile authorities in connection with homicide of Kenneth Spalter on Juniata."
Dotson added that a second suspect is being sought.
The death of Spalter, a former Bedford Central School District employee, was first reported by multiple media outlets in the St. Louis area before making its way locally.
Spalter was shot and killed in St. Louis while visiting family as reported Tuesday on Daily Voice.
Dotson did not release the suspect's name.
Pound Ridge Town Supervisor Dick Lyman called Spalter's untimely death "tragic" on Wednesday.
Lyman told Daily Voice that Spalter was a school psychologist at Pound Ridge Elementary School when his sons attended in the 1980s.
Lyman said that he would see Spalter in town and exchange pleasantries, but added that he did not know him well. However, he recalled that he would stop in at the town house.
"I saw him a few times on Thursdays at the Town House when he played bridge with the group there."
