PELHAM, N.Y. New Rochelle resident Jesus Bargas and his co-worker Manuel Henriques worked under overcast skies in Pelham on Monday. The decrease in temperature after the blistering heat wave Friday and Saturday brought welcome relief to the Joken Construction workers.
Temperatures dropped into the 70s Monday as clouds moved into the area. Those that live or work in Pelham have noticed the difference.
"Today is nice," Henriques said. "Today is like springtime."
Pelham residents Cindy Miles and Ernestine O'Donnell chatted on the street outside an apartment building on Fifth Avenue. Miles walked her black dog, Oliver, under the cloudy skies.

O'Donnell said that she had concern for the older members of Pelham during the heat wave.
"I just felt more for the elderly and sick, that it was hard for them," O'Donnell said.
