Pelham Reacts to Town Justice Election Results

PELHAM, N.Y. – Pelham residents elected John De Chiaro and Stephen Huff to the two town justice seats on Tuesday and several onlookers are pleased with the results.

Some readers visited The Daily Pelham’s Facebook page to voice their opinions about the election. Richard Lamb remarked that the results were “good news," while Michelle Boyle called the results “interesting.” Lori Auletta Anzilotti also liked the results.

Richie Bell, chairman of the Town of Pelham Republican Party, predicted Monday that the Republicans would sweep the election. He said Wednesday he was happy that his prediction came true.

Bell said he expects Huff and De Chiaro to succeed as a team. “It’s a good job in Pelham,” Bell said. “If they work together, they’re going to take care of Pelham. Huff’s been there a long time. He can teach anybody.”

Bell found out the results mere minutes after the polls closed at 9 p.m. Tuesday and said he was surprised by the high voter turnout.

“In that kind of election, we never had that many,” Bell said. “If we had 600 we had a lot.”

Nearly 4,000 votes were cast in the town justice election on Tuesday.
