Pelham Police Handle Threatening Phone Call

PELHAM, N.Y. – The Pelham Police Department received a call from a Fourth Avenue woman who was the victim of a threatening phone call Tuesday afternoon. The victim received the call on her cellphone and was told by the suspect he was from Microsoft. He advised her that her computer was about to crash and she needed to log onto it and do what he said. She stated that she was not going to do what he asked. The suspect became irate and told the victim that her family was all going to die like in the movie “Tomorrow is Another Day.”

The victim hung up the phone and did not give police the suspect’s full phone number. She was advised by police to put her number onto the “no call list” for sales calls and to try and contact AT&T regarding annoying phone calls.

Also on the blotter:

Suspicious Package: Police received a call at 12:02 a.m. Thursday from a man who reported a suspicious package in the center of the roadway at Third Avenue and Second Street. He described the package as a “red bag with wires hanging out of it.” A sergeant was dispatched and advised the package was a children’s toy and all was in order.

Civil Matter: Police responded to Fifth Avenue at 3:55 p.m. Wednesday because of a reported possible larceny. Upon the arrival of police, they spoke with the complainant who said that he gave his friend $20 to go to the store and buy a sandwich. He said she never came back and he wants his money back. The woman was contacted at her home address and said the complainant never gave her money except earlier in the day to get cigarettes and beer. She wants nothing to do with the complainant. The officer advised the complainant the incident was a civil matter and he can handle it in small claims court.
