Pelham 'People Really Do Give' to Salvation Army

PELHAM, N.Y. - The Salvation Army, an organization known around the world for its charitable work, plays an important role during the holiday season for those who are less fortunate.

Members of the Salvation Army stand outside of supermarkets and other stores on the weekends leading up to Christmas to accept donations.

Tom Quatroni, a Pelham resident, was standing outside of DeCicco’s Food Market early Saturday morning. He is doing this work through the Pelham Rotary.

Even though America is facing a tough economic period, people are still being generous, and giving to those who really need the help. “It’s the season,” said Quatroni, a 25-year veteran. “People really do give.”

He is quick to point out his favorite part of doing this service.

“The stories that you hear from the people, especially the old-timers,” said Quatroni. “What the Salvation Army did for them and the look on their faces – it’s great.”
