Pelham, Pelham Manor PDs Step Up St. Pat's Patrols

PELHAM, N.Y. – Do not drink green beer and drive this weekend while celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, as Pelham and Pelham Manor police will be out looking for those who drive drunk.

The message sent by Detective Rick Deere of the Pelham Police Department was that it's fine to have fun at the many events throughout the county and locally, but make sure you are doing it legally.

“I know we’ll have a detail out this weekend,” he said. “As far as exactly what they’ll be doing, I don’t know. But I know we’ll have a detail out just to make sure that all the celebrators are celebrating legally. We’ll have more people [officers] out there.”

Deere said he hasn't noticed an increase in crime on St. Patrick’s Day during his time on the force.

“You’ll notice a few more people,” Deere said. “All the people around, but I can’t say that the crime increases [during St. Patrick’s day weekend] or anything like that.”

Pelham Manor Police Chief Al Mosiello echoed Deere’s sentiments, advising residents that Pelham Manor will have an increased police presence on the roads.

“Yes, we always do,” said Mosiello. Like Deere, he has not noticed a jump in crime on St. Patrick’s Day.

“I can’t remember anything that was significant in the past years,” he said. “No, not in the Manor.”
