PELHAM, N.Y. School spirit will be on display this weekend, as students and faculty at Pelham High School celebrate their homecoming.
The ceremonies begin during eighth period Friday, when students will go to the Middle School gym at 2:25 p.m. for a pep rally. All varsity teams will be seated on the gym floor. Teacher Brian Powers will be the master of ceremonies and the band and cheerleaders will each perform for three minutes.
"The pep rally and all events this weekend give students and the community a chance to express their pride in our high school," said Gina Ricci, teacher and co-advisor of the student association. "The students are always enthusiastic about homecoming."
Members of the varsity and junior varsity football teams are looking forward to this weekend more than usual.
"Pep rally is a great way to get teams pumped up," said Anthony Paterra, a member of the junior varsity football team.
Andrew Dzenis, a player on the varsity football team, said the team really feels support from the school during homecoming.
"The whole weekend is a good way for the school to come together and get into the sports program," he said.
