PELHAM, N.Y. – In anticipation of Hurricane Sandy, The Pelham Daily Voice reminds its readers about how to prepare for it and phone numbers they can call in the event of an emergency.
Although 911 is always available in an emergency, the Pelham Police Department can also be reached at 914-738-2000. Residents can also call the Pelham Fire Department at 914-738-2600 in the event of an emergency.
Pelham Manor Police can be reached in a non-emergency at 914-738-1000. The manor's fire department is available at 738-8824.
The Village of Pelham is continuing to monitor the storm system’s track. The village is cleaning catch basins and putting up barricades in flood-prone areas.
The Pelham Police, Highway and Fire departments as well as local and county agencies are also working together to prepare for the storm.
Con Edison customers can report downed power lines, outages and check on when their power will be restored by computer or mobile device on the company's website. Residents can also call 1-800-75-CONED or 1-800-752-6633.?
When reporting an outage, residents should have their account numbers available and report whether their neighbors have also lost power, the company said. Customers who report outages will be called by Con Edison representatives, with estimated restoration times as they become available.?
Con Ed advises residents to pay attention to reports from city and municipal officials. The company will also be posting information on its website.?
