PELHAM, N.Y. -- Pelham, with a reported annual average insurance rate of $1,877, is among the 20 most expensive places in New York to insure a car, according to valuepenguin.com.
Costs in Pelham are 32.5 percent or $471 above the state average in the study, according to the article, "How Cities in New York Ranked Based on Car Insurance Costs."
Not surprisingly, New York City, inclusive of the five boroughs, with an an annual average insurance rate of $2,973 is most expensive, according to valuepenguin.com.
The lowest state average is $994 is in Corning, the report said, noting New York City's average is nearly triple.
The study looked at rates in more than 100 New York state places for a "sample driver," single and 30, valuepengin.com said.
