New York Ranks No. 1 Among Nation's Best Paid Teachers

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Recent data from the National Center for Education reveals that New York State teachers have the highest average annual salary in the country, according to The Washington Post. 

New York teachers in public elementary and secondary schools have an average annual salary of $75, 279. Massachusetts teachers ranked second with an average annual salary of $73,129, The Washington Post reported. 

Connecticut teachers are among the top five paid educators in the nation, coming in fourth with an average salary of $69,766, just behind teachers in Washington, D.C., according to The Washington Post.
