PELHAM MANOR, N.Y. Pelham residents might soon have a new restaurant to satisfy their cravings for hibachi and other Japanese fare.
The Village of Pelham Manor Board of Trustees approved a resolution for a review deposit for Yumi Restaurant at Monday nights meeting. The board also approved a resolution to refer the application to the planning board.
The restaurant would be located in the Pelham Manor Shopping Plaza next to Nuts About Candy. Village manager John Pierpont said that the developer must address the issue of parking in that area.
Since it would be the third restaurant in that area and parking has been so tight, Pierpont said, the planning board asked the developer to demonstrate for us that they have the parking available for that.
The proposed restaurant would seat 96 people and be just shy of 4,000 square feet. Pierpont gave the board an estimated review cost of $2,500 to be paid by either the developer or the applicant. If the actual cost is more than $2,500, the party would be billed for the balance, he said, and if it is under, they would be reimbursed.
The board also approved a resolution to honor Peter Potocki, the Pelham Civic Associations 2011 Person of the Year. Mayor James OConnor praised Potocki at the meeting.
Pete has been a very active member of the Pelham community and is a former trustee in the Village of Pelham, OConnor said, adding that he has been very involved in the Civic Association and had a whole host of very worthwhile projects in this town. He is a very deserving recipient.
