PELHAM MANOR, N.Y. An employee of BJ's Wholesale had his phone stolen by a father and daughter briefly on Saturday before police returned it to him.A 44-year-old man and his 15-year-old daughter swiped the black Samsung T-Mobile pay-as-you-go phone from the counter but police arrested them and returned the phone.The employee left his phone charging on the counter next to him. When he turned his back, someone had apparently walked by and taken it off of the charger.The suspect had immediately turned off the phone. Police investigation and surveillance video led officers to the man and his daughter.The man covered the phone with advertisement paper and walked away. It appeared that he then told his daughter what he did and had her take the phone when the employee looked away.Police approached the two and the daughter admitted that she took the phone. She handed it to the police as evidence and the officers returned it to the employee.Officers then arrested the pair and later released them on their own recognizance. The man is due in court on Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. for petty larceny, while the daughter is due in family court on Oct. 2 at 9 a.m. for petty larceny and criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree.
