The temporary structures are being removed with the assistance of the giant red main span tower cranes, which will also be dismantled in the coming weeks.

And as the giant cranes come down, residents keeping an eye the bridge's progress may notice a new mobile crane near the Rockland landing in the median separating the Thruway’s northbound and southbound traffic lanes.

Other highlights of continuing work include the installation of the roadway lighting fixtures on the main span. The bridge’s lighting fixtures utilize energy efficient light-emitting diodes, or LEDs, designed with 100,000-hour lifespans.

Construction is also moving forward on the new maintenance facility and the State Police building in Tarrytown that will allow bridge access for Thruway personnel and the State Police.
