PELHAM, N.Y. Pelham is buzzing in anticipation of Sundays annual street fair, and Chamber of Commerce Vice President Dave Katz is hoping it will be a big success.
Last years street fair, we had 15,000 people roaming around, said Katz. Im hoping that we can at least duplicate what we did last year if we cant beat it, at least duplicate it.
Visitors to Pelham will be seeing what our village has to offer as well as the outside vendors, said Katz, co-owner and executive chef of the Depot Market.
More than 100 vendors will offer clothes, handbags, and craft items as well as lots of homemade things and toys, he said. The fair will also feature food from the town, village and vendors plus music, artists and rides for kids.
For the first time, the fair is on a Sunday, which Katz said was scheduled to appease everybody. He hopes the change benefits local businesses.
Most businesses normally do very well on that day, he said.
Weather will also be a factor because if its hot and humid like this, youre done, youll have no business, Katz said on a broiling Thursday. However, he has been checking the Weather.com forecast and said it is expected to be in the low 80s.
With nice weather, he said, Itll be a nice day for our whole village and town to all get together.
The event, organized by the Pelham Chamber of Commerce with the help of StreetFairs.org , takes place on Fifth Avenue from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
