Brendan Cronin, 27, was enroute home from City Island after spending a day of in-service training at the New York Police Department’s Firearms and Tactics Section in the Bronx when he allegedly approached a vehicle with two men inside in Pelham and began opening fire with his service weapon.

New Rochelle native Joseph Felice was shot six times and required several surgeries as a result of his injuries. The other passenger, Robert Borrelli was unharmed, the district attorney said.

Cronin then fled the scene and was stopped a few blocks away. Police allege Cronin was operating his vehicle while intoxicated.

Cronin was indicted on two counts of attempted murder, two counts of first-degree assault and one count of driving while intoxicated, according to the district attorney.

If convicted on all counts, Cronin could spend up to 25 years in prison.
