Construction Under Pelham Overpass for A Few Days

PELHAM, N.Y. – Joken Construction will be working for the next few days under the railroad bridge between Wolfs Lane and Fifth Avenue in Pelham. The crew must place a meter on the water main underneath the street.

Ramon Munguia, a worker on the project, said that the crew will install a 16 inch meter on the pipe.

"The water company has to know how much water passes through the pipe," Munguia said.

The crew also cut the street to install a manhole. Munguia said the project could take four to five days to complete.

Traffic cones diverted drivers around the area of construction, but cars can still travel under the railroad bridge without having to take a detour. Pedestrians could only walk on one sidewalk Tuesday because the crew blocked the sidewalk near the work site.
