The honor was given to 17 bosses who have displayed outstanding leadership and dedication to their employees.
The nomination for Best Boss came from testimonies from Williams' employees and colleagues who, as noted in the president and CEO's profile in 914inc, describe their work environment to be more like that of a family than a business, and this can be attributed for the most part to the effort Williams has put in to make that so.
“George is a true leader who cares about his employees. He has fostered a true team atmosphere and culture at A.G. Williams. He leads by example by working as hard as anyone and as a result, we all make sure we put 100% in at all times,” said Paul Viggiano, director of business administration and Marketing at A.G. Williams Painting Co.
“He has been my teacher and mentor for over 10 years, and I can’t thank him enough for what he’s taught me and the opportunity he's provided.”
Founded in 1906, A.G. Williams Painting Co. grew and prospered through the 1920s until getting derailed by the Great Depression. The company retained all 12 employees on its payroll despite the fact that it often had no work for them, establishing a tradition of loyalty that is upheld today.
No matter the nature of the circumstances, Williams' commitment to the well-being of his company's employees has consistently taken priority over his own well-being, as he continues to follow the principles set by the firm's first generation 107 years ago: Employees first, yourself last.
