The American Camp Association, New York and New Jersey is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of the summer camp experience.

Because of the diverse membership of the ACA, NY and NJ and its programs, children and adults have the opportunity to learn important lessons in community, character-building and skill development that can’t be learned anywhere else.

“I am looking forward to working with fellow board members to preserve, promote and improve the camp experience,” said Rubino, a resident of Yorktown.

The YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester operates Camp Combe, a branch of its Y network.  Camp Combe is an 80-acre camp in Putnam Valley that provides summer day camp programs for children and teens, ages 4-16.  Camp Combe is a full-inclusion camp where children with developmental, social, emotional and/or medical special needs are an integral part of our traditional mainstream programs, regardless of ability level.

“The luxuries of modern society has made summer camp more important than ever in the lives of our children, and the American Camp Association, NY and NJ is fortunate to have an experienced leader from one of the most trusted camp organizations in the world,” said Andy Pritikin, president of the American Camp Association, NY and NJ. “The YMCA organization is at the forefront of youth development, and Cynthia is one of their most respected leaders. We are proud to have her join the ACA, NY and NJ board as a strong voice for nonprofit camps in our region."

The YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester also operates a community branch in Somers that offers daycamp programs.
