The girls performed traditional Irish dances inside and in front of the Ivivva clothing store. The Ivivva event marked the official kick off of the fundraising campaign to send the eight-member team to compete in the 2016 World Irish Dance Championships in Glasgow, Scotland.

This girls, ranging in ages from 9 to 12, has been dancing together for three years. The are from Rye, Rye Neck, Port Chester, Mamaroneck, White Plains and Ossining.

They are two-time Mid-Atlantic Regional Champions, 2014 North American Champions and two-time World Medal Holders. This would be the team’s first opportunity to compete overseas and represent the United States.

“This team is one of the most dedicated, hard-working group of dancers I have ever had the pleasure of coaching,” said LuAnn O’Rourke-Boyd, Founder and Director of O’Rourke Irish Dancers. “It has been an amazing experience watching them grow into young women who handle themselves so professionally on the local and international stage,” added O’Rourke-Boyd.

The girls set up fundraising lemonade stands in their neighborhoods across Westchester County, including Rye, Mamaroneck and White Plains. They will be staging performances and conducting several fundraising activities over the next several months to raise the funds needed to send the team to Scotland.
