PELHAM, N.Y.-- The Pelham PACT - Parents and Community Together - is looking for new volunteers to join several of its working committees.
The Social Marketing Committee
The goal of this committee is to have parents increase parental disapproval and youth’s perception of risk of harm through social marketing campaigns that encourage parents to connect with their children and teach them the dangers of drugs and alcohol. Activities would include coordinating Talk About It Campaigns and producing marketing materials.
Youth Engagement & Development Committee
Peers will work to increase disapproval of use of alcohol and drugs by integrating positive messages, positive role models and positive activities into the lives of middle school and high school students. Activities will include creation of youth-developed prevention messages within the school; planning youth summit for high school students and planning and promoting substance free activities for middle school students.
Community Assessment Committee at
Parents and children work to increase community awareness of the local issues related to youth substance use by developing tools and presentations to share the data with the community.
