Pelham Manor Church Offers Youth Disaster Preparedness Training

PELHAM, N.Y. -- A disaster preparedness training seminar for young people will be hosted by Pelham Manor's Huguenot Memorial Church on Monday evening.

The training will be held during the weekly youth group gathering. Dinner, which costs $6 per person, starts at 6:30 p.m., and representatives from World Cares Center will begin the training at 7, the church announced on its website.

The training should last about an hour, including questions. Anyone interested in helping to get young people of our community involved in preparedness planning and emergency response to disaster situations is invited to attend as well.

The Disaster Preparedness training is one of the World Cares Center programs developed to prepare and empower youth to be ready responders in emergency and disaster situations. World Cares Center, founded in New York City after Sept. 11, is a nonprofit group that strives to empower communities through disaster response training and coordination.
