Pelham Library Focuses On Frankenstein

PELHAM, N.Y. -- Pelham Library's new "Pelham Reads!" program will kick off in October with a series of events focusing on the book and the cultural phenomenon of "Frankenstein."

On Oct. 5, at 2 p.m., the library will hold a kickoff event that will have story time for children under 5, a monster comics workshop for tweens and teens; a horror movie make up demonstration for children ages 12 and up at 4:30 p.m. and a reading from Mary Shelley's novel by actors at 5 p.m. 

On Oct. 19, the Pelham Arts Center will host a children's art making workshop from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. 

On Oct. 24, Science journalist and author Emily Anthes will discuss her book "Frankenstein's Cat: Cuddling up to Biotech's Brave New Beasts" at 7:30 p.m. 

On Oct. 26, the Pelham Picture House will host a screening of the classic 1931 "Frankenstein." Children ages 4-12 will be able to gear up for Halloween by making monster masks at the library from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. 

Finally, on Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m. there will be a teen book discussion at the library about the classic novel.
