Pelham Civil Air Patrol Cadets Celebrate Promotions

PELHAM, N.Y. – Several members of the Pelham-based Westchester Cadet Squadron 1 of the Civil Air Patrol were promoted in rank recently at a special ceremony.

The event, held at the Yonkers Public Library, marked the promotions of both cadets and senior members. The Phantom Regimental Drill Team, which is a joint color guard and drill team made up of cadets from each squadron, performed during the ceremony.

Squadron 1 cadets receiving recognition included:

  • Adrian Kahaner, who was promoted to Cadet Chief Master Sergeant (C/CMSgt) and recognized for serving as First Sergeant, and who also received the Air Force Association’s Squadron Cadet of the Year Award.
  • Michael Cali, Branden Knight, LeVaughn Monteith and Hava Rogatsky, promoted to Senior Airmen (C/SrA).
  • Brenna Chen and Alejandro Kahaner, promoted to Airmen First Class.
  • Sharmein Mamuji, promoted to Cadet Airman.

C/CMSgt Kahaner also participated as a member of the color guard, and C/Sr Airmen Monteith, Rogatsky, Chen and Kahaner participated as members of the drill team. All of the cadets received proclamations from the State Legislature recognizing their achievements.

Senior members of the squadron involved in the ceremony included Steven Kahaner, who was

promoted to Captain, and Jude Stenson, recognized for completing Level I of the Civil Air Patrol Professional Development Program.

Village of Pelham Mayor Ed Hotchkiss was on hand for the ceremonies, along with other government officials, state-level officers of the Civil Air Patrol and various military personnel.
