Marion Prehn, 89, Formerly of Pelham Manor

PELHAM MANOR, N.Y. – Former Pelham Manor resident Marion McClellan Prehn died May 12 at her home in Jamestown, R.I. She was 89.

Born July 17, 1922 in Mount Vernon, she was the daughter of Pelham L. and Laura C. McClellan.  Prehn grew up in Harrison and graduated from Skidmore College with a degree in business degree. She married Richard A. Perkins in December 1945 and they settled in Pelham Manor and raised four children.

Locally, Prehn served as president of the Girl Scout Council and was a member of the Manor Club and International Garden Club. She was also a member of Christ Church at Pelham. After the death of her husband in 1965, she continued to raise and support her children. She then married William F. Prehn in 1979.

Prehn had a lifelong interest in business and following the stock market was a passion of hers right up to her final days. Maintaining homes in Jamestown and Naples, Fla., she was a former member of the Conanicut Yacht Club in Jamestown and the League Club in Naples.

She is survived by a son Richard A. (Lynn) Perkins Jr. of New York, N.Y., two daughters Candace P. (Bill) Longley of Atlanta, Ga. and Kimberly P. (Jeff) Westcott of Darien, Conn., 10 grandsons and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband William Prehn, a brother Pelham L. McClellan Jr. and a daughter Pamela P. Vaughan.
