Five Questions for Pelham Children's Center Leader

PELHAM, N.Y. – Lori Woliner is the director of the Pelham Children's Center. She lived in Pelham for 15 years and now lives in the Bronx with her husband.

Question: What is your favorite aspect of Pelham?

Answer: The small town community feel that is has...where everyone knows each other. That's what I like.

Q: Do you have a favorite place to go in town? A favorite restaurant?

A: The M.A.D. Café is my very favorite place in the whole town. I spent a lot of time there. You feel very comfortable and at home. It's a very easy place to be. I happen to be a coffee lover and theirs is excellent.

Q: Do you have a particularly fond memory of living in Pelham?

A: The parades. The Memorial Day Parade, I marched in it for various organizations during the 15 years that we were here. I plan to do that again now that I'm part of an organization again. (I remember) driving in my husband's 1953 MG GT, walking my Basset Hound through the parade route.

Q: What emotions did you feel when you returned to work in Pelham?

A: It felt very comforting to be back. I'm starting to feel in ways that I have a second home here. I wasn't super anxious to leave. I still have a lot of friends here, too.

Q: Do you think you'll ever leave Pelham?

A: I think I'm here for the long haul.
