Rocco, 35, will be showing his film, which he wrote and produced, at the Yonkers Film Festival later this month.
He dove headfirst into the film industry, not only writing and producing a film but also booking a supporting role in a Western film to be shot in New Mexico later next year, produced by Kimber Eastwood - daughter of Clint Eastwood.
His short film, "Come As You Are," is loosely inspired by his own life.
The film was shot in several different locations in Westchester, including Rocco's alma mater Tuckahoe High School, Scarsdale High School and Dobbs Ferry.
The story follows a high-school age football player who rebels against his popularity, friends, and family to pursue a musical career. A close friend, in a coma after succumbing to cancer, inspires him to continue playing guitar and be true to himself.
The take-home message of the film, according to Rocco, is "Just be yourself. Don't compromise your love or your integrity for anybody else."
Rocco plays himself in the film, which is directed by Sara Bailin.
"I couldn't have pulled it off without the producing help of my good friends; our talented director, Sara Bailin and seasoned actors, Rob Alicea, Clint Mauro and Michael Wren Gucciardo," he said.
When Rocco isn't playing shows as a musician or selling real estate, he is actively pursuing making "Come As You Are" into a feature-length film, which was its original goal that failed due to lack of funding.
If "Come As You Are" becomes a feature film, it will star a different actor other than himself.
"I want to give someone else the opportunity to play that part," he said.
The film has been featured in three different festivals and screened at the Pelham Picture House. He intends to screen it in more places, including schools, if given the opportunity.
