Clean Up Mount Vernon During 'Renew The City' Event

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Alliance Church, in association with the City of Mount Vernon, is presenting Renew the City, a one-day citywide event to rejuvenate and renew Mount Vernon.

Alliance Church's community day of service made stops in Cleveland and Chicago and on May 16, this one day intergenerational event will make its first New York stop in Mount Vernon.

Combining the day's events with the Annual Cleanup Day activities, all neighborhood associations, cultural and social organizations are asked to join with others in giving Mount Vernon a facelift.

There are simple things to do that can make a difference in how people perceive the city, including cleaning sidewalks and removing debris from property; organizing activities with your neighborhood associations; becoming a volunteer and encouraging friends and neighbors to join in; and bagging up yard waste for curbside pickup.

The kickoff rally will begin at 8 a.m. at Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, 61 South 3rd Ave,, Mount Vernon. To volunteer for other projects, call (914)-665-2343.
