NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — After several days of freezing temperatures, three lakes and ponds in New Rochelle received approval Monday to open for ice skating, the city Parks and Recreation Department announced.
Carpenter’s Pond, Paine Lake and South Lake at New Rochelle High School have been inspected and designated by park staff as safe to open for skating within the roped areas.
Parks staff will update ice skating lake and pond status after daily inspections. Surfaces will remain open as conditions allow. Skating is not permitted outside designated areas or at any other city lake.
