NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. State Sen. Jeff Klein helped mark the end of Pelhams Tiny Tots Day Camp and enriched campers' lives musically Thursday as host of his seventh annual concert around Westchester at Pelham's Siwanoy Elementary School.
This is more than just music. Its teaching kids life skills, he said.
Klein has used the contemporary music show Nature Jams to provide free concerts throughout the towns in his district, including Pelham, New Rochelle, Mount Vernon and Yonkers.
The band raises awareness of good health, natural living and friendship by teaching the children how to repeat back phrases spoken to them and by singing. Participants also practice how to take turns waiting for others to finish speaking or singing.
Pelham Recreation Tiny Tots camp supervisor Carolyn Beith said the young campers were excited about Kleins visit.
They are very happy, she said. Its their first experience with a senator.
Klein and Nature Jam also visited Hutchison Elementary School.
Last year, the senator brought Nature Jam to Yonkers for a concert.
