An Intervale Avenue resident reported to police multiple times this week that following the arrest of the dog’s owner in North Castle, she had taken the dog in but was unable to take care of it.

Police said that the dog was not being abused, but the woman was unable to properly take care of it. She told officers that she had contacted the SPCA in Briarcliff and several other shelters, who all said they did not have room for the dog.

The woman was advised by police to contact the North Castle Animal Control Office, which could provide her with further assistance and guidance on how to best find the dog a permanent home.
