VALHALLA, N.Y. -- Chicken soup is not just for curing colds. But it IS a great winter warmer when the weather outside dips below what's comfortable.

Kara Newman, who writes about cocktail trends for Valhalla-based Wine Enthusiast, is a big fan of the Chicken Soup Hot Toddy, a boozy broth made with chicken stock, ladled hot into a brandy snifter with Nolet’s Gin. 

This drink comes courtesy of Johnny Swet, partner and mixologist, JIMMY at The James in Manhattan.

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces hot chicken stock
  • 1 ounce Nolet’s Gin
  • ¼ ounce lemon juice
  • 1 dash celery bitters
  • Carrot stick, for garnish
  • Celery stick, for garnish
  • Parsley, for garnish

Directions

  • In a snifter, stir together first four ingredients. Garnish with carrot, celery stick and parsley.
