What To Do In The Pelham Area This Weekend

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. –  Iona Homecoming and Family Weekend events and a fall festival are some of the events planned this weekend in the New Rochelle and Pelham area.

Friday, Oct. 19

Iona College Homecoming And Family Weekend: All Weekend. The college offers several activities to welcome students’ families and welcome back alumni to campus. Click here for a full listing of events. Iona College, 715 North Ave., New Rochelle.

New Rochelle Farmers Market: 8 to 3 p.m. Purchase fresh produce and baked goods and see cooking demonstrations at this weekly market, which continues through the fall. New Rochelle Public Library Green, One Library Plaza, New Rochelle.

New Rochelle PAC House Theater Gallery Open: 1 to 5 p.m. The gallery is open for residents to see. 311 Huguenot St., New Rochelle.

Saturday Oct. 20

New Rochelle BID Fall Festival: 10 to 10:30 a.m. Families with children ages 8 through 12 can paint seasonal scenes for Halloween and Thanksgiving on the windows of downtown businesses during this free event. Children can also participate in a mask-making workshop. Families must pre-register in order to paint a window. In case of rain, a makeup date will be available by calling 914 654-2116. New Rochelle Public Library Green and New Rochelle downtown.

Friends of the New Rochelle Public Library Book Store: 10 to 3 p.m. Customers can find books and other items at bargain prices at this bi-weekly book store. New Rochelle Public Library, One Library Plaza, New Rochelle.

New Rochelle PAC House Theater Gallery Launch Party: 5 to 8 p.m. Residents can visit the opening of the theater's art gallery. PAC House Theater, 311 Huguenot St., New Rochelle.

New Rochelle Community Education Workshops: 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The New Rochelle School District and New Rochelle NAACP chapter host a series of workshops geared toward bringing everyone together to stress the importance of education. New Rochelle High School. House Four (new wing), 265 Clove Road, New Rochelle.

Pelham Women’s AA: 9 to 11 a.m. This Alcoholics Anonymous meeting takes place at Christ Church, 1415 Pelhamdale Ave., Pelham.

Sunday, Oct. 21

New Rochelle Public Library Open: 1 to 5 p.m. The New Rochelle Public Library is open. New Rochelle Public Library. One Library Plaza.

Huguenot Children’s Library Closed: The Huguenot Children’s Library is closed all day. Huguenot Children’s Library, 794 North Ave., New Rochelle.

Pelham Farmers Market: 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Pelham Farmers Market offers produce, breads, pastry, wine and specialty products. Harmon Avenue off Fifth Avenue, Pelham.

Westchester County Health Department Rabies Vaccination Clinic: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The county health department offers this free clinic. Cats and ferrets must be in carriers, and dogs on a leash. Aggressive dogs must be in a muzzle. The Health Department will not give examinations. Pet owners can call the New Rochelle Humane Society at 914-632-2925 for more information. Pelham Art Festival: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents can enjoy the town's annual festival featuring more than 120 artists and vendors. Attendees will also be able to taste international food, and listen to live music, go on rides, play games,and visit with clowns, and jugglers. The rock group Flying Dogs of Jupiter will also perform from 2 to 5 p.m. Fifth Avenue, Pelham.
