Summer Fun Still to Be Found in New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- With school just around the corner and the dog days of August offering simmering heat, there's still time for residents to kick back and enjoy a little music and food during free summer concerts at the Hudson Park band shell.

There are still three summer concert series events left to finish out the dog days of summer at Hudson Park in New Rochelle.

Residents can catch a show by up and coming musicians from local schools and colleges on Friday, Aug. 19, at 7:30 p.m.

The lineup will feature the Ben Barnett Trio, the Jacob Harelick Groove, and Pronoia. In addition to the tunes, there will also be Walter's Hot Dog food truck on hand.

Other upcoming concerts include the Firey String Sistas at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 24. The chamber jazz ensemble has performed its brand of world music and jazz at cutting edge venues across the country.

The food trucks that night will be Melt Mobile, offering gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches made with local artisanal breads, imported cheeses and fresh, organic meats and produces, plus Uncle Louie G’s Italian Ices and ice cream.

Finally, on Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 7:30 p.m., the Kootz Band wraps up the Summer Concert Series playing pop rock favorites of the ‘60s through ‘80s.

Food trucks for the finale include local favorites Tecas Tacos, POW Burger, and Uncle Louie G’s Italian Ices and Ice Creams.

The Summer Sounds concert series is presented by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts, in partnership with the New Rochelle Dept. of Parks and Recreation, and co-sponsored by Webster Bank and People’s United Bank.
