“Art and Craft” documents the life of Mark Landis, often referred to as one of the most prolific art forgers in U.S. history. He’s covered artists spanning various time periods including Picasso and Walt Disney, and he has spent the last few years donating his work to various institutions. The documentary also portrays the art forger’s struggle with Matthew Leininger, a registrar who learns Landis’ secret and threatens to expose it to the art world.
The documentary premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2014. It was named an official selection of Hot Docs 2014, the San Francisco International Film Festival, the 2014 Montclair Film Festival and the 2014 Nantucket Film Festival.
The post-screening discussion will be hosted by The Picture House critic-in-residence Marshall Fine.
Tickets to the screening are $12 for general admission, $10 for students and seniors, and $6 for members. They can be purchased by clicking here or by visiting the box office at 175 Wolfs Lane.
